I have gobs of MP3s (close to 600GB) so there’s no way I’m ever going to fit everything I want to listen to on my 16GB iPhone. Also, I’m constantly trading live music over BitTorrent (legally) as FLAC files, and this app gives me an easy way to preview those in the Cog player without having to sit in front of my computer. While testing AirPhones, I spent hours listening to music while doing the dishes and working around the apartment, all without intruding upon my girlfriend’s precious DVR time.

The sound quality is great, not perfect but where else are you going to find a $5 pair of wireless headphones or wireless speakers that work over 100 feet away from your Mac?"

Testing with an AirPort Extreme, we’ve been able to use AirPhones without a glitch, 137.5 feet from the router.

INSTALLATION:
Purchase AirPhones from the iTunes app store.

Connect your iPhone or iPod Touch to your local computer network. You should see the WiFi symbol at the top left of your device.

Download, install and launch the AirPhones server
and set your preferences. (we like the defaults)

Turn up your computer and device volume and play some music or a movie on your computer.

Launch AirPhones on your iPhone or iPod Touch.

Click ‘Connect’ on your computer in the AirPhones Popup. (Check to make sure the window isn’t hiding behind others.)

Do a fancy dance.
